The header on your website is not just a place for your logo or name. It communicates what you do, what you provide and the feel for the subject (serious, fun, retail, etc).

Remember, the header to your website is the first thing people see! They need to know what service or product is being offered immediately.

There are so many ways to present a landing page or the home page of your website. Some can play music, some have moving graphics, etc. The important thing to remember is the 'why' you are creating a website. If it serves as an informative site for your clients, or act as an additional 'business card' for your business then simple perhaps is the way to design.
